Although based in Portland, most of my blog content revolves around places miles and miles from my beloved hometown. I arrived back in Portland for only one weekend before jet-setting again which is my typical MO lately. After taking one look at the weather app and seeing straight-fire sunshine for Saturday and Sunday, Rachel Jane Lloyd from ‘Love, Rachel’ blog and I made a plan to maximize the weekend with a much needed stay-cation.
Rachel is the Portland Blogger I look-up to. She has been a mentor in a way and actually encouraged me to start my blog after she saw how much of my life was dedicated to travel and uncovering 100 percent experiences across the world. We share a unique passion for photography, content creation and curation which will hopefully lead to more collaborations on trips and posts. You can and should check out her blog here!
What did we get up to?
We checked out some newly opened cafes on N. Mississippi, walked N. Alberta Street for some light shopping and street art and then headed to distillery row for locally made spirit tastings. But the fun didn’t stop there. We decided to head to the coast Sunday. I surfed in the morning and met Rachel, her husband Drew and our mutual mermaid-haired friend Kristi for the most beautiful March sunset in Cannon Beach.
These Portland weekends with friends come too far between for me lately. I hope to spend more time dedicated to exploring and posting about all the gems our city has to offer.
New cafés to checkout on North Mississippi Avenue
Moberi – we attended the grand opening. I was so excited to see them back on N. Mississippi. Now I don’t have to drive across the bridge for my Yoda Acai Bowl.
JORY Coffee Co. – my first and definitely not my last ‘pour-over’ coffee. Absolutely stunning coffee and pristine interior design. I will be back.
Portland Street Art on North Alberta Street
There are so many beautifully painted walls on N. Alberta, below are my current favorites. Preach Portland!
Keep Your Chin Up
You Are Confined Only By The Walls You Build Yourself
On She Goes
New Deal Distillery – $10 for 6 tastings ranging from vodka, gin, whiskey and liquors. My favorite is the Hot Monkey chili infused vodka.
Wild Roots Spirits – $5 for 5 tastings of berry and fruit flavored vodkas. My favorite by a landslide was apple followed by cherry and pear.
100 Percent Tip: Buy the Portland Distillery Passport for a much cheaper deal on your tastings. Only $20 gets you tastings at 11 distilleries!
